Kari has taken control of her own development and created her own career journey at Northwestern Mutual.
Started working as an intern
In 2012, I was fortunate to be hired as a college intern with Northwestern Mutual. I was nervous because it was my first real professional experience, and I did not have a finance degree. What I learned quickly is that if you are coachable and are willing to work hard, the sky is the limit with this opportunity.
My career grew during my internship
As an intern, we got to do real-life work and be hands-on with clients, learning alongside experienced advisors. That summer of the internship, I transformed in a positive way! I noticed I carried myself more professionally, I was able to handle my workload with classes and hockey much better in college, and I could feel myself growing as a person. Each morning, I woke up excited to go into the office and most importantly, be surrounded by other growth-minded individuals.
Now I’m a Financial Advisor!
Upon graduation in 2014, I transitioned to have a great fulltime career in recruiting, selection, and marketing. I then started my financial planning practice in 2020! Reflecting on this career path, the internship was the way into this amazing company.
We do work with impact, we are surrounded by positive and motivated colleagues, and we can create a life by design. I am so grateful for what this internship and career has allowed for my family and how we get to help people with an important part of their life-their finances!
